I am currently experiencing a niggling problem with Windows Updates.

My system is set to receive automatic updates. In the past two weeks every time I have shut my computer down there has been attempt to install updates. When I switch back on again the next time I go on, the updates are configured, or so I think they are as I just leave it to it and go and make a coffee!
It seemed a little strange that it was doing this every time, as usually it only happens a couple of times a week at most.
So I investigated and had a look at the update history and it was showing that there was one particular update that was failing on a regular basis.
The update is: “Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64 –based Systems”
The error code I am getting up is: 9C47 and a message stating “Windows Update encountered an unknown error”
I have attempted to use the troubleshooting tool provided by Microsoft but this doesn’t seem to be able to fix the problem.
The failure has occurred at least 10 times since 20 November, 2013.
