Really useful if you'd rather soft patch and leave your ROMs unmodified.

Download a copy of Lunar IPS
Make a copy of the ROM you want to patch
Apply any IPS patches you want to one of the ROMs
Click 'Create IPS Patch' in Lunar IPS. Select the unmodified/unpatched ROM in the first window, then select your modified/fully patched ROM in the second. Then choose a location to save the new .ips file
Lunar IPS will create a .ips file containing all the patches you applied to the ROM
Rename the new .ips file with the same name as your ROM, place them in the same directory, and run them with an emulator that supports soft patching.

This was useful to me when I wanted to use RetroArch's soft patching feature on Shin Megami Tensei for the Super Famicom, but I wanted to apply both a translation and a ROM hack. I merged the two patches together with the above steps, and now can soft patch in RA just fine.
