This year marks the 5^th anniversary of Rocksmith as a franchise – and to prepare for the occasion, we’ve been working on some special stuff behind the scenes. The biggest item is definitely Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, which brings some fan-requested features and several improvements to the software you already know and love. Here’s a quick overview of Remastered (newest/updated questions in blue):
What is Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered?
Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered is a free patch for all platforms and an updated re-release of Rocksmith 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Macintosh. Remastered is the same core experience that has helped so many people learn to play guitar, now with additional improvements and redesigned features.
When will Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered be available?
Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered is scheduled for release in stores in October 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Macintosh. (Existing Rocksmith 2014 players on all platforms will receive the Remastered improvements as a free patch at the same time.)
What has been updated for Remastered?
Remastered includes a major patch featuring a wide variety of improvements that we hope will be welcomed by new and experienced players alike.
· Manage your song library using updated Search, Sort, and Filter tools
· Search by artist or song name in Learn a Song, Score Attack, and the Shop—just enter the desired text with your keyboard or game controller
· Build custom Song Lists in Nonstop Play to group songs for personalized practice sessions
· Pause and navigate freely through entire tracks in Riff Repeater, and loop phrases more efficiently
· View all song arrangements from the improved Song Hub, and launch directly into any of them without changing paths
· Filter your Nonstop Play list by tuning, and switch between all available arrangements between songs
· Customize the rate of Dynamic Difficulty adjustments, or disable the feature altogether
· Track your progress with detailed in-game player statistics
If I already own Rocksmith 2014, do I need to buy Remastered?
Nope! It’s the same core software, and the updates it offers will be supplied to existing players through a free patch.
As an existing Rocksmith 2014 player, how do I get the Remastered improvements?
If you’re already enjoying Rocksmith 2014, all the improvements found in Remastered will be delivered in the form of a free patch. That applies to all six platforms – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and Macintosh – none of our existing players will be left behind!

When will the patch be available for existing players?
The patch is available now on all platforms. Simply sign into your online network of choice and you'll be prompted to download it, or it will download automatically. When the patch has been applied, you will see the new Remastered logo on the startup screen.

Are there any new songs in Remastered?
The core song library that comes with the main software remains the same as Rocksmith 2014 Edition. As an incentive for new players, a voucher with codes for six bonus DLC songs will come with physical copies of Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered at retail; players will redeem these codes via an online connection to obtain the bonus songs. However, these songs will also be made available for purchase as DLC for existing players, so no songs will be available exclusively through Remastered.
Those six bonus DLC songs are:

· Elvis Presley – Suspicious Minds
· FUN. – Some Nights
· Jackson 5 – I Want You Back
· Outkast – Hey Ya!
· Train – Drops Of Jupiter

If I already own Rocksmith 2014, how do I get the Remastered edition’s bonus songs?
These six tracks will be available for purchase as DLC the same week that Remastered becomes available at retail outlets. There is nothing exclusive to Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered; all its content will be made available to current players, as well.
How do I get the free songs if I buy the physical version? What about the digital version?
Look for a paper flyer inside the physical package; it will contain DLC redemption codes. The digital editions will include an additional download bundle of the six bonus songs.
Does the physical version come with a cable?
Yes -- all physical editions of Remastered come bundled with Real Tone Cables. (The days of the 'disc-only' editions of Rocksmith are over.)
Where can I find the physical version?
North American territories will find it at their local retailers -- check with your store to see if it's something they are stocking or might need to order. European and Australian retailers do not have the physical edition. The digital edition of Rocksmith Remastered, with the bonus DLC, is available in both NCSA and EMEA territories.

How do I edit my Song Lists?
Song Lists are managed through Nonstop Play > Song List Editor. Once in the Song List Editor, navigate left and right to view the different Song Lists. You can then add or remove songs from the selected list. Exiting the Song List editor will save the changes to your Song List.
How do I switch between Ascending and Descending sort orders?
On consoles, this functionality has been moved to the Right Stick (R3 on PS3/4). Press down on the stick to toggle between ascending and descending sort.
Where happened to the Favorites sort?
You can now use the Filter By option to show ONLY songs you have marked as a favorite.
What was added/changed in the December 13 patch?
We added a few new features (including one big one!) and improved a few others based on user feedback. The latest patch includes:
Microphone Mode
If you don’t have an electric guitar or simply want to use an acoustic to play Rocksmith, now you can! Use a USB microphone as your input device, point it at your acoustic guitar or bass, and enjoy strumming and picking in Rocksmith without a Real Tone Cable. (We still recommend using the Real Tone Cable for best results and the most direct/cleanest signal input for any guitars with pickups.)
Disconnected Mode
Want to just play along without plugging in? You got it. You no longer have to have a Real Tone Cable plugged in to play along with Rocksmith – note detection is deactivated, and you can just read the notes on the screen for more casual practice sessions.
Endless Replay Mode in Guitarcade
Guitarcade fans asked for less downtime between games -- request granted! Instead of kicking you back to the menu after each round, you can now immediately restart your next run.
We’ve also tweaked a few other key elements, thanks to the feedback we’ve received from players:
- You can now edit your Song Lists from the Learn a Song menu as well as the Nonstop Play menu
- Rocksmith can now hear your guitar better during Calibration
- Added ability to choose Other Arrangements in Score Attack
- Added the ability to replay the “Welcome to Rocksmith” introductory lesson
Does Microphone Mode work the same as if I were using a Real Tone Cable?
Yes – all your songs are available, dynamic difficulty adjusts to your skill level, Emulated Bass mode is available to you – it’s the Rocksmith experience you know and hopefully love. The only audible difference: Your guitar signal will not be processed through Rocksmith 2014’s Authentic Tones when you’re in Microphone Mode. You won’t hear stompbox effects, but you will be scored normally when playing songs.
Will any acoustic guitar work with Microphone Mode?
Any normal six-string should – we tested this mode with a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles of acoustic guitars. Specialty acoustics like 12-strings or baritone instruments still aren’t recommended, but a standard six-string acoustic should be fine.

What kind of microphone do I need?
Any dedicated USB microphone that your machine recognizes should work fine. (We do not recommend using a microphone that is part of another device, like a webcam or chat headset.) Not all USB microphones are supported by all gaming platforms. If in doubt, please contact the microphone’s manufacturer.

Any tips for best results with Microphone Mode?
You bet:
• Be sure you have a working, dedicated USB microphone plugged into your computer or console. Sounds simple, but it’s worth checking.
• Recalibrate any time your set up or environmental conditions change. Notes above the 15th fret may not be accessible on some acoustic guitars.
• Minimize background noise as much as you can. If the background noise is too loud, Rocksmith won’t be able to distinguish your guitar from everything else.
• Different microphones have different ranges of sensitivity, so you’ll need to make sure you’re close enough for it to hear you. If you’re having trouble with note detection, trying adjusting the angle and distance of the microphone itself.
• Be sure the microphone is pointing the right direction. Some microphones are designed to pick up sound from any direction while others can only pick up sound from one particular direction.
